- Spoiler:
- So, if you've seen Marvel's The Avengers, then you know how Agent Coulson dies. Stabbed in the chest by Loki's
magic glow-stick of destinyscepter/spear. The doctors called his death, with Director Fury in the room, too. So how is it that S.H.I.E.L.D Agent Phillip "Phil" Coulson is alive, and the main character of the new TV Series S.H.I.E.L.D to boot? That's what most Marvel fans would like to know.
Here's what I know about the show so far:
First of all, the cast-
Clark Gregg is to reprise his role as Agent Phil Coulson, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who oversees many of the division's field operations. He's going to be headlining the series. Basically, he's the main character. If you don't know who Clark Gregg is, he's Agent Phil Coulson in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, The Avengers, and voices Agent Phil Coulson/Principle Coulson in Ultimate Spider Man.
Cobie Smulders is to reprise her role as Agent Maria Hill, though Agent Hill won't be making a huge appearance in the show. Smulders also is an actor on the show How I Met Your Mother, and says that her commitment to the show will not stop her from participating in S.H.I.E.L.D.
Actor Ming-Na Wen (Best known for voicing Fa Mulan in the movie Mulan) is playing Agent Melinda May, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who is an ace pilot and weapons expert. She was originally listed with the name Agent Althea Rice (a.k.a. The Cavalry) on the casting sheets.
Elizabeth Henstridge is set to play Agent Gemma Simmons, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who specializes in life sciences (both human and alien) and is the close partner of Agent Leo Fitz.
Who is Agent Leo Fitz? Well... Iain De Caestecker is set to play Agent Fitz, an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. who specializes in weapons technology.
Brett Dalton is set to play Agent Grant Ward, a gruff, asocial manly man in his early 30s who's great at his job but not so great at getting along with his coworkers. Ward has a strong moral foundation and isn't without his charm.
Finally, we have Skye. She's played by Chloe Bennet (You may know her from The NightLife (Herself), Intercept (Tess), and Nashville (Hailey)). Not much is known about Bennet's character, except that she is a character described as "bubbly and goofy" but "also warm, edgy and witty." She's in her late 20s and can more than hold her own in any situation.
Now for the directors.
It seems like S.H.I.E.L.D is a family thing, as Director Joss Whedon, the same guy who directed The Avengers, is set to direct it. Jed Whedon, brother of Joss Whedon, and his wife, Maurissa Tancharoen (or Maurissa Tancharoen-Whedon), are helping create the new TV Show, just like they did with The Avengers.
The only question here is, will this actually work out? Sure, The Avengers was awesome, in my eyes, and we have the same people working on this show. But, TV Shows and Movies are different. Movies are long, and sequels don't come out every week. TV Shows are, usually, a half-hour long, and are easier to make.
Voice your opinions below, and lets see how this turns out.
